c . ... This day. Sheep were again in short supply at Burnside to-day;, in fact, it was the smallest yarding this season, and values in consequence took another sharp advance. Beef was in fair supply, and the prices realised were well up to late rates. An increased number of spring lambs were offered, but pigs were in short supplv, and sold at high rates.

Sheep.—A very small .yarding, only 882 head being penned. The yarding was of a fair average quality. The sales opened under keen competition at 6d por head in advance of late rates, but as the sale progressed prices further liardened, closing at an advance of 3s 6d per head on last week’s very high rates. Extra nrime heavyweight wethers made from 77s to, 86s; prime, 60s to 75s 9d; medium,-48s to 60s; light and unfinished kinds from 4_s upwards. Extra prime heavyweight ewes made from 70s 6cl to Sis 6d ; prime, o3s 6d to 60s ; medium, 45s * , ° 51s; light and aged from 38s upwards. There were live small pens of shorn sheep offered, the first of the season. These sold at prices ranging trom 3-1 s Del for ewes mid from 52s for wethers.

Spring Lambs.—A total of 78 head were offered, which was tho largest number penned this season. * The was also the best seen at Burnside this season. The increased number somewhat affected prices, but all were sold at prices ranging from 21s up to 31s per head. • * yarding, numbering 148 head. The quality of the yardiiig was of a medium description, there, was good competition, and prices realised were about equal to last week s rates. Prime bullocks made from £32 to £4O; medium, £25 to £3O; fighter kinds from £l7 10s upwards. J rime heifers made from £l9 to -'23 • medium, £ls 15s to £18; light‘and a gsd from £l2 upwards. Store Cattle.—A largo yarding, some of the pens containing -well-bred and good-conditioned cattle. There was a good demand for this class at verv satisfactory, prices. Cattle in a hackuaid condition, however, are very hard to sell.

Pies—A small yarding. The demand was very keen, and all were sold a* prices on a par with last- week’s rates. Best baooners mack? from 10! d in.Vr a,?d porkers from 19Id to 11 id por lb.
