Tho Rev. W. P. Rankin (Presbyterian), of Cromwell, is definitely announced os a Progressive Liberal candidate for Wakatipu at the forthcoming General Elections. Labor candidates’ rally at the Grand Theatre to-night. Mr T. N. Erihana has decided to contest the Southern Maori seat. In view of Mr T. K. Sidey, M.T., having now announced his intention of again contesting Dunedin South, Mr M. Bradley will not be a candidate for this seat. Mr H. M. Jones, a well-known Ashburton business man. has announced bis candidature fen - tho Ashburton seat, in opposition to the Hon. W. Nbcvwrthy. He .stands as a Democratic Liberal. Mr E. Phelan, secretary to the Auckland Timber Workers’ Union, will probaby contest tho Rotorua seat in the interests of Labor.

Mr E. Kellett, e.x-City Councillor, who was also a member of the Military Service Board, will contest Dunedin North us an Independent Labor candidate.
