Rvbum and uve children arc pa-fsen-gers bv the s.s. Hymettus, which left Calcutta ou August 13 and was due at Sydney on the 19th i nst. They will take the first steamer to New Zealand. Rev. VV. ilawson, of the Presbyterian Mission in China, cabled on tho 191 hj inst. that the mission party returning (Mr and Mrs Mawson. Dr and Airs L. W. Kirk, and Dr and Mrs Paterson) were travelling to Hong Kong by the St. Albans, and had arrived at Brisbane. Mr C. F. Statluun. M.P , who has lnoen in town for the week-end, leaves tor the North to-morrow morning to resume his parliamentary duties. Mr and Airs Robert Murray, .> Baugor torrace, Kew, have received advice that their son, Gunner Howard Muray, who has been on active service for about four and: a-half years, has arrived at Wellington bv the troopship- Hororata. * Mr’R. T. Sadci, Commissioner of Lands, leaves Dunedin to-morrow morning to attend a. meeting of the Surveyor’s Board at Wellington at which 22 candidates are to be examined, and it may la» nearly a fortnight before he returns.
