Now that the embargo on the carrying of racehorses by train has been lifted, the Riccarton trainers who intended walking their horses to the Geraldine meeting will alter their arrangements. Undor the new order there is a big chance of Gay Lad sporting silk at tho Southern fixtures. At Riccarton on Saturday morning Cay Lad jumped off by himself at the' nine furlong mark, and after running three furlongs he was joined by Flight Commander. Tho pace was solid in the early stages, and though the last half-mile was not run at tho same rate, Gay Lad was going comfortably at the finish, his performance being an attractive one. Now that shipping space is available, it has been decided to send Adelaide Direct home to Adelaide, and the 1917 Now Zealand Trotting Cup winner leaves cm Thursday.
