The name of tic American steamer West Carnifex is at present as well known in Germany as that of Hindenburg, for the West Carnifex landed at Hamburg wharves 6,000 tons of real Grlifornian wheat flour. The German papeis.give mouth-watering descriptions of its whiteness and quality, but warn all hungry folk that this flour has to be paid for at the rate of £95 a ton—over six times the war price of the German home-made Hour, with which it is to be nwced. to make-it go further.
