It is rti touch with Ponta Delgada (Azores), Clifden (County G-al-way), and St. John's (Newfoundland), receiving weather reports. The speed has so far averaged 43 knots an hour. July 3. The Air Ministry is receiving wireless progress statements from R34, which is obtaining Atlantic weather reports from Ireland, the Azores, and Newfoundland. The airship proceeded by a more southerly route, owing to the fog. The latest report is: All well; 1,000 miles covered: flying at an altitude of 2,000 ft. Brilliant sunshine a,bove the clouds. Expect to arrive at New York on Friday morning, completing 3,500 miles, and resuming on return journey to England without delay via Azores. In the House of Commons Dr Macnamara said R34 cost £350,000, and six other airships of an improved type were being constructed.
