WEST HARBOR COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the West; Harbor Borough Council was held Inst evening, and was attended by Mr 11. E. Moller (Mayor) and Crs Hooch, M'Ewan, Smith, Robb, Robertson, Mitchell, Fraser, and Barker. The Mayor referred to the signing of the Peace Treaty. Ho said ho was cure they were all pleasod to know that the treaty had at last been signed, and he moved that a motion to that effect be recorded iu the minute book as n permanent record.—* The motion was carried. Mr J. .Douglas (deputy chairman of the Dunedin Peace Celebrations Executive) wrote suggesting that the council should take an official part in the pubtio procession on the Monday afternoon of peace celebration week. ■—-It- was decided that the Mayor, the chairman of the Finarce and Works Committee, and the Town Cleric represent the borough at tho celebrations. The Town Clerk of Napier wrote asking the council's co-operation iu requesting Cabinet to declare Aiuac Day a statutory holiday.—lt wits decided to support the proposal. A lengthy circular was received from lb« Public Health Department dealing with the prevention and combating of influenza .-—The circular was received. A letter was read from M.r A. Nelson, who stated that, in view of the curtailment of the railway services, he was prepared (should satisfactory arrangements be made with the council) to commence a motor bus service from Dunedin to West. Harbor, starling on Friday, July 4.— The Mayor stated that two other offers had been received for motor services, but the railway authorities had agreed to let them have a train winch would leave Dunedin at 9.30 every night except Saturdays and Sundays,—Tho letter was received. .< p»* to 2 -ote e - The Works Committee recommended that th© footpath from the top of Ross street to the district road be put in order, aud that the bottom end of Bishop street and the footpath in 'Scotland street be attended to. —The report was adopted. Tho receipts for tho past month amounted to £5 Iss, and the expenditure to £95 10s 4d.
