RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
TO THE EDIXOE. Sii*, —With reference to your leading article last night on the series of resolutions at the Protestant Political Association meeting at Port Chalmers, I should like to make our position perfectly clear. Our constitution demands that absolute neutrality shall be maintained on the Bible in Schools Question, and the resolutions proposed by Mr Whyte were only allowed as a matter of courtesy, the rev. gentleman wishing to test the feeling of the meeting on the question. The motion was only seconded pro forma, and I think I am correct in saying that Mr Whyte and another were the only supporters.—l am, etc., E. P. Wilkinson, Secretary, Protestant Political Association.
