RETURNING SOLDIERS
THE KIA OKA'S DRAFT. Th Kia Ova,, with a largo draft of mtxmiiii'g troops, arrived in the stream at Lyttelton at 6.30 last evening, says a P.A. message. Permission has been given to defence oiTloors, under certain restrictions, to board the vessel to-morrow to prepare for the disembarkation of the troops. The soldiers state that the voyage was very smooth and pleasant, and they all appear to be m high spitrfts. The transport's medical oflioer is Dr George Craig, D.S.p., of Auckland', who was at one time medical officer cf Oook Islands. NO CHANGE OF IMMEDIATE RELEASE. OHEIBTCHURCH, May 8. Drs Ohesßon and Upham visited the Kia Ora this morning. It is understood that each member o£ the draft will be examined, and until this is done no definite statement can be made as to when the voasal will be released. Later. On his return from the Kia Ora Dr Chesson declined to make a statement regarding the period for which the vessel will be quarantined. All that can be ascertained is that she will be quarantined till further notice. Soven men will be sent to Quail Island, consisting of an influenza patient and six men who are suffering from mumps.
