GAELIC SOCIETY
The Gaelic Society held their monthly meeting last evening. There was a good attendance of members and friends, and iho various contributions were well received, encores being demanded of-all the performers. In the absence of the chief, who is attending a conference of commercial travellers at Auckland, Chieftain William Duncan took the chair. As usual, the programme was opened with a Gaelic son", ' Suas Leis a Glaelig,' sung by Mrs M'lvor. To an encore she responded with 'Hi Ho Ro's Na Ho Ro Eili.' Mr Waterson's songs, 'My Jean' and ' When the Kvc Come Hame'; Mr D. Matheson, Gaelic son, ' M'ribhinn Op;'; Mrs Johnson, 'Within a Mile o' Edinburgh Toon' and' 'Mother Machroe'; Mr Dunn, recitations, ' The Hieland Division ' and, ' Tho Volunteer Organist'; Mrs Robertson, Gaelic song, 'M' Sheul a'd D'heigh' and another; Mr Nicolson, Gaelic song, ' Mam Bhan 0-'; Miss M. M.'Donald, 'The Banks of Looh Lomond ' and 'Ye Banks and Braes'; Chieftain K. Cameron, Gaelic song, 'Ha M' Reun Air a Ghile'; Mr J. D. 'Cameron, ' Come, Sot Yc Doon' and 'Over the Sea.' Miss W. Ro'binson danced a Highland fling very neatly. Miss Reeve was accompanist, and Mr A. M'Kenzie had control of the short dance which followed.
