APPEARANCE OF EVIL
A fine budget of new films was presented for the first time at .Everybody's Theatre,, this afternoon. The leading attraction is a World production, ' Appearance of Evil,' featuring June Elvidge. The story tells of Maida Brown, a widow, and her little boy, who come to live at B'ayport, where ugly gossip is started by frequent visits from Letchworth, an inventor. This gossip finally reaches Maida's mother-in-law, who accuses her of remarrying. At first Maida denies the charge, for she would thereby lose her fortune willed by her dead husband. Finally she acknowledges that she had married Letchworth, but had kept it secret so that with her wealth she might—unknown to him—aid his invention. But by now ha, too, has made his fortune, and can pay back the loan to the estate, and. all ends well. A Mack Sennett Keystone comedy. 'His Naughty Thought,' is included in the supports.
