A deputation, representing the Agricultural and Pastoral Workers' Union, waited upon the Hon. W. H. Hemes at Wellington yesterday, urging provision for better accommodation for shearers. 'Members of the deputation declared that some quarters provided were very bad, and in the interests of humanity something should be done. The need for more adequate legislation to govern tbo providing of accommodation for shearers was stressed, and a request made that the Government should take over a Bill once introduced by Mr Veitch, M.P. The Minister said that from the point of view of the men the Act did not go far enough. The Act required only that the owner should provide a re'l-"'" nm'M'i>t -'" t>' u ". " was not the Minister of Labor, but would would urge amendments in the existing law.
