PARISH MEETING

BT. MARY’S, MORXIX6TON. The annual meeting was held last night. The vicar (Canon Small) was in the chair, and there was a .largo (attendance of parishioners. Details of the annual report and balance-sheet have already been published. Mr 8. P. Mix-ams was reappointed vicar’s churchwarden. and Mr W. J. Veal was re-elected parishioners’ churchwarden. The following were elected as vestrymen : —Messrs Barton, Bates, Bentham, Bligli, Bourne, Boyd, Jeffs, Kerr, Smith, Tordcff; ■assistants to vestry —Messrs S. It Whiter mbe, A. G. Birt.. A. 'Whitcombs. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the outgoing vestry, the Ladies’ Guild, Sunday school teachers, lay readers, organist, .and choir. Attention was drawn to the recently-established stipend fund, and mention was made of extensive renovations being necessary to the organ. After the formal business was concluded, refreshments on a lavish scale, provided by the ladies of the congregation, were partaken of, and a musical programme, consisting of the following items, was listened to with great enjoyment: Piano duet, Misses 0. and F. Provo; duet, ‘Sincerity,’ Misses E. and X. Smith ; recitation, Mass Doris Lucas 5 song, Miss King: song, 1 Thy Sentinel am I,’ Mr T. Dobbie; and three glees by the members of St. Mary’s Choir. The accompaniments were played by Mr H, C. Hutton, who was for the musical programme. A few dances brought to a close a most successful. evening, the Kntional Anthem being sung at 11 o’clock.
