ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
During shunting operations on the railway wharf at Wellington last night an engine ran over a man, severing one log and mangling the other. The man was removed to the hospital, where ho died soon after admission. His name wea Donald Rennie, -turd ho woe an able seaman on the Tainui. A P.A. mess-age states that tho driver of the engine saw oomathinig lying on the track, bn# was unable to stop in time to prevent the accident. A motor accident occurred on tho Paekakariki road yesterday at M‘Kay’s Crossing, about two miles north of Paekakarilti (Wellington). The driver took the wrong turning, and while the car was being turned on to the road again a wheel collapsed, and the car completely somersaulted, righting itself on its wheels again. There were six passengers besides the driver. Mr Farquhar, sporting reporter of -the Auckland ‘Star/ was rendered semi-conscious. He was cut about tho forehead, and it is believed that his right arm is fractured. Mr Sheath, of Auckland, bad a collarbone broken, but the others escaped with a shaking and minor cuts.
