DEATH UNDER OPERATION
INQUEST RESUMED. The inquiry into the death of Annie Tenner, who died on Saturday last in tho preliminary stage of -an operation for the removal of an abscess from tho lung, was resumed before tho coroner (Mr H. Y. Widdowson) this afternoon. Senior-ser-geant Murray represented the police. Dr Drennan, who made a post-mortem examination of the body, reported tho condition of the organs, and gave it as his opinion that deceased died suddenly from heart failure due to the inflammatory condition over tho left lung and over the heart itself, end that death might have occurred suddenly, apart from any anesthetic or operative interference. In reply to the coroner, witness stated that, in view of the condition of the organs as described, an operation would bo tho only possible resort. An anesthetic would bo necessary. The insertion of _an exploring needle was the usual surgical procedure. The cause of death was, shortly, heart failure, secondary to pericarditis, secondary to empyema. Everything possible bad been done for the deceased at the Hospital. A verdict was returned in accordance with Dr Dremmn’a evidence.
