BANK OFFICERS
ASSOCIATION PROPOSAL "TURNED " DOWN " BY BANK OF NEW~ZE ALAND STAFF. It was stated in our issue of Saturday last that steps were being taken throughout New Zealand to form a Bank Officers* Association, with a view to securing increases in salary, and that to this end a. committee had "been s-et up to circulari?e every bank in the Dominion. Tire mattes was "discussed bv the Dunedin staff of the Bank of New Zealand last evening. The meeting v.-as attended by every member of the stait with the exception of Mr Gibbs, the manager, who asked to be excused, on the ground that his presence might interfere with free discussion of the subject. The following resolutions were unanimously passed: In view of the propo'sal on foot to form a Bank Officers' Association, we, members of the local staff of the Bank of New Zealand, imanimor&ly resolve to place on record our appreciation of the present satisfactory relations between thif Board of Directors of the bank and thy staff. We also unanimously resolve to disappro\ e of any attempt "to introduce union principles into that relationship, believing that-such a course would of necessity tend to disturb the harmony at present •existing.
