ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
Eric Ferguson, a son of Mr Alexander Ferguson, -of Wellington, accidentally shot himself while out rabbit-shooting yesterday at Clevedon (Auckland). Evidently his gun was discharged as ho was getting through a fence. A verdict of "Accidental death" was returned, the coroner drawing attention to the numerous deaths caused of late through the careless carrying of guns. A bushman named John O'Neill, aged 33 years, cut his throat in the lavatory of the Metropolitan Hotel, Wanganui, yesterday. He obtained a loan of £1 from the licensee, and, after having a sarsaparilla and lemonade, said he was going to his room to take medicine. A few minutes later he was found in the lavatory with his throat cut from ear 'to ear. Ihc deceased's brother was also staying at the hotel. Joseph William Greenfield, single, aged 25, and employed as a farm laborer at Balclutha, was admitted to the Hospital yesterday suffering from a fractured ankle. A Wellington message states that at the inquost on Margaret lieid, who died from injuries received through being knocked down by a motor car on Adelaide road on the 28th inst. a verdict of accidental death was returned, no blame being attachable to Samuel Williams, the driver of the car.
