As a result of the various public examinations, out of 11 candidates who had sat for the University Entrance Scholarship, J. F. Landreth had obtained a scholarship,, coming third on the list. The lady principal reported that the roll for this monih wns 385—132 senior free pupils, 240 junior free, pupils, and 13 paying pupils. Of the latter six had failed in the intermediate examination, and one in matriculation, three had passed matriculation, one had gained a University scholarship, one had gone to Tirnaru three were in ill-health, and four left for domestic reasons. Thirty girls sat for the Public Service entrance examination; 16 passed, four with credit, including- M. L. B. Yowv who was placed ninth on the l;.st, and 14 failed. This result was diswppointir«. Last year 71 per cent, of the candidates passed. Forty-four girls sat for the matriculation examination. Of these 28 passed matriculation, 22 passing in addition to the solicitors' knowledge and medical preliminary examinations; 12 gained partial passes, and 14 failed. Four girls completed matriculation. Four girls sat for the junior University scholarship examination. J. ' Giiult won the second scholarship. Miss u. Gilkison the ninth, and Miss A. C. Ross the 10th M M Grater Was placed fifth m the credit list, and passed the medical preliminary on the junior scholarship. This was the most brilliant success that the school has ever achieved.
