Mr Tredwon, chairman of the Australian Merchants' Association, interviewed, said the merchants generally were not in favor of Government trading. He suggests that the Commonwealth would do well to follow tho British example, and sell their steamers at the excellent prices now obtainable, and make a largo profit, which may be impossible a few years hence.
