DR COLQUHOUN
RETIRBS AFTER 35 YEARS.
HOSPITAL BOARD'S EULOGY
At last night's meetiratr of the Hospital Board Dr Colquhoun wrote resigning his position as honorary physician to the Hospital after 35 years' servioe. The Chairman (Mr Knight) said that Dr Colquhoun arrived from London in the early part of 1884, having been appointed to the teaching .staff of the Otago University. Since that date Dr Colquhoun had continuously occupied tho position of physician to the Dunedin Hospital as well as lecturer and professor of medicine of the Otago Medical School. Apart from his special knowledge of medical science, Dr Colquhoun was a cultured gentleman, whose intellectual pre-eminence wa,3 equalled only by his nobility of character Tho influence which Dr Colquhoun had exercised in his personal contact with generations of medt cal students had ever been in the direction of inculcating tho highest ideal of his profession. In years to come his life would be an inspiration to many an old student. Among the many who had benefited by his u-iso counsel, not the least had been the board. He moved—
That the board place on record their appreciation of Dr Colquhoun's long and valuable service ias physician of the Dimedin Hospital, and that he be asked to accept the position of honorary consulting physician. Mr Talboya seconded the motion, and referred to the invaluable services rendered to the community as a -whole by Dr Cblqu'houn during eo many years. Mrs Ferguson said l that Dr Oolqxihouni would be greatly mijseed by the student*. The motion was carried unanimously.
