CARSWELL THE DUNEDIN CENTRE CHAMPION. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, on tho Dunedin Green, which was very keen, W. Carswell (Taiexi) defeated A. Barnett (Roslyn) in tho final of tho champion of champions tournament, the score being 30 to 11. There was no wind most of the time, but an occasional gust was a momentary trouble. .... , First head: Carswell's first ball in the ditch; Barnett narrow ; Carswell's third exact width, a foot over; just behind it; Carswell’s last in the ditch; Barnett edged Carswell in for second shot. Carswell 2-0. Second head: Carswell's third in the ditch ; two shots good width, one counting. 3-0. Third, head; Barriott’s first jack high, 6in away ; his third rested on it; his last counted as third; Carswell all round about. 3 all. Fourth: A wide end; Barnett feared' that he might knock up one of Carswell’s, and ho did, Carswell scoring 4. Carswell 7-3. Fifth : A short head. Carswell lying 3, if not. 4, when Barnett provided' one of his own. and lay 1. Sixth: AH drawing and no cannoning ; Carswell scored 2. Fourteenth: Barnett displaced Carswell with a good) one, but Carswell drew for a single with his next. Carswell 22-10. Fifteenth: Barnett with Ms second stole tho kitty from Carswell, and would have lain 3, but Carswell knocked up a short one. Carswell 22-11. Sixteenth: Carswell drew two firstclassers, Barnett missed with a drive, and Carswell put in a third. 25-11. Seventeenth : Three good bowls to begin with; then Barnett took the kitty away, and every other ball was a beauty-, the result a single to Carswell. 26-11. Eighteenth : Barnett purposely burned the jack. Carswell, bowling with machine-like accuracy, got 4 in, three of them dead on. Barnett drove with his third and fourth, and failed, and then there was nothing left that he could do but shake hands with tho imperturbable Taieri man and congratulate him on winning tho championship.

WOOLLEN MILLS AT PLAY. In perfect weather conditions the annual fixture between the Roslyn and Mosgiel Woollen Mills was played on the Mornington Green. which had been kindly lent for the occasion, and thanks to the greenkeeper’s attention was in fine order, and added very much to the pleasure of those taking part in the game. Mr W. Davidson, in the absence of the president of the Mornington Club, aelcomed the players arid expressed the pleasure they had in lehding their green for such a match, and they hoped they would all enjoy themselves. A party of the Mornington lady players dispensed a welcome cup of tea. The game resulted in a win for Mosgiel by one point—l2l to 120. Scores : M. R. Milne, E. Cameron, Cameron, H. [Special to the ‘Stab.’] CLYDE, March 10. In the bowling matches on Thursday Alexandra beat Roxburgh in a four-rink match. Clyde defeated Roxburgh on tho morning of the same day by 13 points. At Alexandra on Saturday Cromwell beat the home team by 42 points in a fourrink match, Dunstan Club visited Queenstown, on Saturday, when tho visitors won, by 47 points, all four rinks having comfortable wins. The visitors were accompanied by lady friends, tho party numbering 31.

The Dunedin and suburban greenkeepers hold their annual gathering to-morrow, playing progressive doubles among themselves all dtiy. The play is to take place on Dunedin Green, not on Caledonian, as previously announced.
