OVER.WITELAIING MAJORITY VOTE FOR. STRIKE.
FOURTEEN TO ONE. Tho ballot which was taken yesterday on tho question of strike or no strike ■was conducted quite quietly, and the result was announced at 6.50 by Mr L. D. Browctt, of the Labor Department, aa follows: — Votes. For a strike ... 199 Against a strike 14 Informal, 1. In the control of the ballot Air L, D. Browett and Air C. R- Watson were stationed at tlia polling booth m the Labor Office, where 29 votes were polled, and Air F. Barton and Mr R.. Slater were on duty at the booth in the tram sheds. The result of tho poll has been telegraphed to tho Registrar of Unions (Mr F. W. Rowley) at Wellington. On the roll of voters there were the names of 214 men in the employ of tho City Corporation, 25 in the Roslyn Company’s service, and 15 who belong to the Kaikorai Company. This gives a total of 23-1. But 27 of that number, all on tho Oitv roll, aro abroad, most of them on active service. This leaves 227 possible voters, and the votes cast numbered 205.
The trams this morning were still run ning slow.
