KAIKORAI PUBLIC SCHOOL
ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION. The annual prize distribution in connection with the Kaikorai School took place on the-school ground yesterday afternoon. The committee and teaching staff decided to distribute the prizes before Christmas, as next year a number of the .senior scholars will have loft. The award of prizes this year was baecd on past examine taoms and class marks during the year. Mr Q. Moir (chairman of the committee), in presenting Quo prizes, said that the ceremony this veax was held under exceptional circumstances. The signing of the armistice was the r.ost exceptional otreuinstance, then came the epidemic. Now the epidemic was away, and thev could look forward to brighter days. He regretted to eay that the attendances had dropped off during the year, the average being 660 out of a total roll of 606. Oat of 69 entrants for proficiency certificates 55 had gained payees. Marita for this examination were given as result of former examinations. The speaker went on to say that during the year 1-ho pupils had collected a large sun of money for patriotic purposes. The school during that period had maintained its high standard and reputation and the inspectors spoke well of the classes.
