PATIENTS AND PRISONERS’ AID

SOCIETY. TO THS EDITOR. Sir, —I regret having to ask your favor to be allowed to make a personal urgent appeal on behalf of my work, but positive need makes me do so. Three reasons compel me to do so. First, in a fow days, the year will close, and I shall bo very much on the wrong side of the ledger. Second, the postponing of the annual collection moans a drop of at least £125. The third reason is, that quite a few of my collectors are ill, and will not be able to wait on the usual willing subscribers to the Society's funds, and 1 am not able to personally call on account of the fact that my hands and time are full with special work in connection with the unfortunate epidemic. This work I do not feci justified in leaving, and I don’t believe the people would wish mo to do so. T therefore ask the friends of the Society to come to my help in meeting the unusual and, shall I say, urgent, need that has arisen this year. I need the sum of £l5O. in order that the society’s good work may be successfully carried out. For all past help given I am most grateful. The j present epidemic will make a further j demand iinon me : then Christmas i comes. and 1 should like, as in former years, to help the sick and the poor in these days of heartrending. All subscriptions should bo addressed to the j undersigned. 250 King street. — £ am,; etc., ! Francis Gdirck Cumminu. j December 7.
