Sir,—ln re the above Bill, which the Minister of Defence has placed before Parliament, it has been suggested that a bonus should be paid to the officers amen of the Expeditionary Force who have been honorably discharged from the force after service beyond the seas. 1 wont suggest that the bonus take this form; Increase the pay paid to the New’ Zealand army since the outbreaK of war to that paid to the Australian army. This would be a matter of an increase of Is a day for a man and a slightly larger increase for an officer, according to rank. Such an increase would also be a very simple matter for the department to adjust.—l am, etc.. Returned Soldier. December 6.
