A .recent writer points cut that “Eye-strain does not usually shew itself in '.the eyes, but in other parts of the body, in the form of Heart Trouble, Indigestion, Headaches, Despondency, Irritability, Insomnia, etc.” Those most liable to suffer in this way are people of nervous temperament, who are the subject of “attacks/' many of which arise*from causes unconsciously induced by persistent straining of that extremely .sensitive organ, the Eye. If your Eyes at any time give the slightest trouble, or if thoir continued use brings on Headaches, your best plan is to have them examined by Mr Noill. In all probability, Glasses made to counterbalance some slight defect in your vision would do awav with all your troubles and make life happier and brighter. Professional Optician, HUGH NEILL D B O. From conversations, however, with medical men, I learnt that there is a fairly widespread local epidemic of influenza, and I personally lenow.that a number of doctors and medical students are laid up with it. The disease is characterised by the suddenness of its onset and the great prostration during both the actual attack and convalescence. Most sufferers are laid up from seven to ten days, From the bacteriological examinations that it has been possible to ( make so far, the disease appears to be caused by the true influenza bacillus, which is often associated with pneumo-coccus, the organism usually responsible for pneumonia. The more severe cases might develop bronchial symptoms, and if neglected actual pneumonia might ensue.
