OBITUARY

Miss Catherine H. Woods, whose death is announced, was the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs D. W. Woods, of Brown street. Dunedin, and a sister of Messrs F. and R. Woods, drapers, and of Messrs J. D. and L. E. Woods. Tho deceased for many years was a prominent member of the St. John Ambulance Association. Some time, ago she accepted an appointment at Nurse Stronach’s hospital at Oamaru. When the epidemic broke out she was spending a short holiday at Wanganui, and she responded to an urgent call for her services, and returned to Oamaru. She had only been back a few days when she contracted influenza, and died" yesterday. Rifleman Andrew James Sinclair, imported lulled in action ou November 4, was tho eldest son of Mr and Mrs John Sinclair, Mulberry street, Holyrood, Knikorai Valley. Ho was born at Townsville, Queensland, 29 years ago, and came to New Zealand with his parents in 1897. He was educated at the Mosgiel and Mornington Schools. He enlisted in March, 1917, but was turned down. He was called up in tho ballot and passed as fit. He served his time as a boot-finisher with Messrs Craigie and Thompson, of Dunedin. He was employed at one time with Messrs Shacklock and Co., but, at the time of his going away with the 37th Reinforcements was working at Sargood, Son. and Ewen's boot factory. He took a keen interest in cricket, being a member of both .Shaddock's and Sargood’s teams. He was also a member of the Momingt-on Football Club. His only brother, Rifleman J. M. Sinclair, is in England after having been wounded in France.
