SAILED. —December 4. Dredge 222 (5 a.m.), 1,223 tons, M'Kenzio, for Oomara. Dredge 222 left Port Chalmers this morning for Oamaru, whore she will be engaged for three montha* dredging. Captain Thomson, harhofnnaster, went up on the dredge. The Stella was expected to leave Dunedin this afternoon with a full _ general cargo for Wellington. After discharge at the northern port sh© will go to Nelson to load machinery from the dredge which was purchased some months ago by the Otago Iron Rolling Mills Co. from the Nelson Harbor Board. The dredge ia being dismantled, and the material brought to Drmadin as tho opportunity offers. The Stella should arrive hack hero shout tha middle of next weak. Tho steamer Breeze and the brigantine Aratapu went down to Port Chalmers to-day, where both veseb will dock and undergo survey and overhaul. The Breeze will commence loading at Duasdin on Saturday for Timam, Lyttelton, uvd Wanganui, and the Aratapu will lake a timber-load in g berth here at tho tod of the week for Melbourne. Tho Kittawa left Groymouth at 10.oQ last night, coal laden, for Wellington. The weather was unsettled at Greymonth to-day, with strong northerly winds. A considerable sea was running on the bar.- ■. The American baniucntir.o Rose Mahoney, which arrived at _ Melbourne on November 13 from the United fetates and Wellington, was released' from quarantine on November 20. When she has completed discharging her timber cargo she will load grain at Melbourne for San Francisco. A full cargo of wool for tho United States will be shipped by the Norwegian barque Norstjarae at Melbourne* The vessel was undergoing repairs at the, Victorian port last mouth. The American sailing vessel Columbia River was expected to arrive at Melbourne towards the end of last month, with a cargo of timber from Columbia River. The vessel was believed to ba 80 days out on November 20. THE WAITOMO. The Union Company's cargo steamer Waitomo arrived at Wellington at 10 a.m. to-dav from Calcutta via Singapore • and Auckland. After discharging a part cargo at Wellington tho vessel will proceed to Lyttelton and then to Dunedin to complete. She is expected to arrive here on Sunday or Monday next. MEN AFLOAT AND ASHORE. Captain F. A. Macindoe. secretary of the Merchant Service Guild, who has been laid up with influenza, is making a good recovery. Mr A. E. Young has succeeded Mr Donald M'Gregor as chief officer of the Kittawa. Captain F. G. Radford hag recovered from his attack of influenza, and resumed command of the Calm at Dunedin this week. Captain Davy hag taken command of the Island steamer Tallin©. relieving Captain Mawson, who has gone to Wellington for orders. Mr G. Stevens, who has been acting fifth engineer of the Mararoa, has transferred hack to the Monowai as fourth. Mr Anderson has joined the Moana ns thief engineer in place of Mr Watson, who has come ashore for orders. Mr A. Rawlins, third officer, and Mr D. R. Cozens, third engineer of the ■Laima, have been seized with tho prevailing epidemic. • Mr J. M’Gratb, on© of the Union Company’s pursers, lias recovered from a severe attack of influenza. Ho has rejoined tho Monowai. Captain J. Dowell, of Wellington, has taken temporary command of the John while Captain Hawick is laid up. Mr John A. Meek, wireless operator of the Mararoa, has signed off the vessel’s articles. Captains P. J. and A. T. Dowell, of the Blackball Company’s service, arc both laid up at Puran, near Lyttelton, with influenza. Captain A. S. Cant is actingmaster of tho Ngaknta and Cnptain_ ,T. W. Duthio is in command of the Nttatoro. Mr B. D. Wagtou has joined the 1 Ngator© n? second officer. Mr A. Keil has joined the Ngaknta ns third engineer in place of Mr Neville, who has transferred to the Ngatoro as second engineer. Captain T. Braidwood. who has had temporary charge of the Calm during tho absence of Captain Radford, owing to ilines, has resumed command of the Breeze at Dunedin. Captain Venn, who has been, in temporary command; of the Breeze, has reverted to his former position. Captain A. G. Hoad, master of the Canard liner Port Alma, who was left behind at Sydney some weeks ago owing to illness, arrived at Wellington last Thursday, and has rejoined his vessel. Captain Hawick, late of the John, was transferred last Thursday from thc Missions to Seamen emergency hospital (Wellington) to the General Hospital, as he was found to be suffering from measles. Mr R. K. Duckworth, purser of the Mcana, who had been a she re at Lyttelton for over two weks. suffering from influenza. has rejoined tho vessel. Mr Annandale, third officer of the Flora, has joined the Poherna as second officer, relieving Mr M'Lean. who has been promoted to chief officer of the vessel. Mr Chatfield has joined the Whangape as chief officer. Mr White has joined the Arahnra as second officer, in place of Mr Parker, who is ashore on sick leave. Captain M'Khmon. of the TTawers. vhq has been suffering from influenza, is now convalescent. Messrs H. An dec son, R. Craig, and N. Sullivan have joined tho Mono vai as chic! officer, second engineer, and fifth engineer respectively.
