The question o( establishing a crematorium in Auckland came before the City Council on Thursday evening, when a letter was’ read from tho Auckland Cremation Society urging the erection of a crematorium in the city, and suggesting that an offer should bo made to tho Health Department to erect a public one, providing a subsidy of £ for £ were granted by the Government. Tho Mayor stated that tho matter had previously been discussed by tij o council, and it had been decided to again consider the matter after the end of the war. He thought the ratepayers should be given the opportunity to decide the matter, and with that object he moved that the sum of £4,C00 for providing a crematorium be added to the loan proposals to be placed before the ratepayers in January. The motion was carried without discussion
