This Day. A feature, of tho Burnside pales to-day was the large number and excellent quality of fat cattle which were offered for sake This was very gratifying to members of tho trade. It was noticeable that ninny frequenters to the yards were still absent, owing to the prevailing epidemic. Sheep.—A medium yarding of good qualitv. numbering 1,492. The bulk Ol tho yarding consisted of shorn wethers, ht the commencement of the sale the demand v/cis keen, and prices were Is per head above last week’s rates; but the demand slackened as the sale progressed, and the advance in price was not maintained. Extra prime heavy-weight woolly wethers made from 55s 6d up to 65s 5d ; prime from 48s to 545; medium from 44a to 47a; light and unfinished from 38s upwards. Prime woolly -owes made from 43s up to 495; medium from 38s to 425; light and aged from 30a upwards. Shorn wethers sold nt, from 32s to 445, and shorn owes from 30s to 40s 3d.

Spring Liimba. —162 wore penned. This was* the’ largest yarding this season. Some of the lambs wero of very good quality, but. others wero only indifferent, being too voung, and should have been left with for a longer period. Prices ranged from 22s up to 32s od qior head, which is equal to a reduction of 2s per head as compared with last week’s rates. Fat Cattle.—A largo yarding, numbering 260 head. The. quality was good, being much above that of lato yardings. At the time of going to press medium-weight cattle were back 10s per head, and 6-xtra heavy cattle 2-Os per head, us compared with* the prices wliich ruled at last week’s sale. Extra prime, heavy-weight bullocks made from £!d4 to £29 Ills 6d ; prime, from JDI9 10b to £23 10s; medium from £l7 to £l9; light and unfinished kinds from £ls IQs upwards. Prime heifers made from £l6 to £lB 10s; medium from £.14 to £ls 10s ; light and aged from £lO 10s upwards. Store Cattle.—Only a small number wore offered for sale, and these mostly wore very young. For good forward steers prices were equal to late rates, selling up to £ls 10s each. Young and backward cattle, however, did not maintain late rates. Cows are not meeting with the same, demand as they did a few months ago, as canning operations are at a complete standstill. Pigs.—A medium yarding was offered, which met with a good demand at late rates. Best baeouora realised up to 9|d per lb, and best porkers from 9d to 9£d per lb.
