The Wellington Harbor Board statistics for the year ended September 30 show that whilst an increase was recorded Over the previous year in tho tonnage of general goods passing over the whalves (inwards and outwards), the quantities of our primary products showed a decrease all round, obviously due to the increasing shortage of shipping tonnage. This amounted to 122 vessels, representing 80,371 tons. Whilst there a falling off, as compared with the previous year, of 131 steamers which worked the port, an increase of nine sailing vessels is recorded. The net decrease of tonnage is equal to 3.3 per cent. : but no credit is taken for tonnage of men-of-war. Imperial or Dominion transports and hospital ships, yachts, and other non-trading craft entering the port. Coal handled during the year was 446,586 tons, a decrease for the year of 44.802 tons, equal to 9.1 per cent. Wool, hemp, meat, butter, and cheese passing over the wharves all slww substantial reductions in quantities for tho year compared wit hj the traffic for the 1916-1917 period. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
