TO IKE EDITOR. Sir,—ln your ‘Nutshell’ column you have the following item:—“ S. Paul’s opened 1697,’’ This is somewhat misleading Thero ware quite certainly two—probably five—churches previously built on. the site of Wren's marvellous ccnceptdoni in architecture, and indeed it is believed that S. Paul’s, like sc. many other placesof Christian worship, way tho original site of a tomplo dedicated to the goddess Diana-. Tho present- S. Paul’s, as everyone knows, was built after the great fire which deprived London of most of its churches, excent the famous S. Bartholomew’s and ! S. Oiavo's.—l am, etc.. ExGT.tSTnvOMAM. December 4.
