FINANCE AND SALARIES. Tho Finance and Library Committees reported having purchased 82 Borough of St". Hilda 5 pet cent, debentures, due 1944. at 96, an an investment on account of the Glcndining gift; also { having approved the following requisitions t —lnBenson (books for geography), £ls 14s; Professor Park (books), £8 0s; Professor Waters (books). £1 10s; Professor Waters (apparatus), £3 11s 9d; Dr Inglis (apparatus), £97 Ss 7d ; Dr Gilroy (books), 18s : Mr Saunders (books), £2 os; Miss Turnbull (books), £4 19s; Dr Bonham (hooks), £6 6s 6d ; Dr Benson (apparatus and books), £39 6s 6d ; Dr Dronnan (material and apparatus), £35 16s. The following matters were also dealt with :—Tho committee approved of Miss Peacock's (teacher of needlework) salary being increased to £SO per annum as from the cornmenceicnt of 1319; the council were recommended to approve of tho appointment of a full-time assistant to Professor Inslis, at a salary of £250 per annum. Mr (Morrell and Mr Eudey were risked to confer with Miss Turnbull with reference to her request for assistance in the teaching of junior Latin, and to report to next ineetiuv. Tho report was adopted. HOME SCIENCE BUILDING.

Tho Finance and Works Committee announced having accepted the tender of Mr Orr Campbell (£6,558) for tho erection of tho whole of the homo science building on Tanna Hill. Professor Boys ’Smith provided the information that £137 19s bad already bean collected and the following promises madei—Mr John Ross £IOO, Mr .0© Beer £IOO, Mr John Roberts £SO, Mr Anscombo £25, homo science students £IOO. The professor considered that the whole of tho amount required would be made available. The report was adopted.
