The Rise and Shine No. 2 dredge reports a return of 21oz 3dwt for 160 hours’ work. NEW COAL FIELDS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM. The final report of the Coal Conservation Committee shows that there is still the possibility- of discovering new coal fields over nearly the whole of the eastern and southern areas of England, and in Antrim, in Ireland. Tnc superlkial beds in these areas arc of later date than the coal measures, and the underlying strata uic still very imperfectly known. It is estimated accordingly that probable reserves are equivalent to 580 times the normal annual output. At the same time, the newer beds will be. increasingly more difficult to work.
