TOE WELLINGTON-AUCKLAND TROUBLE.

WELLINGTON, September 25.
The Wellington Rugby Union last night considered a letter from the New Zealand Union, which expressed the opinion that the Wellington Union had failed to make proper inquiry regarding the playing of the Auckland-Wellington match on September 7. It was finally decided that tho coach and all the players of the Wellington representative team be examined next Tuesday evening. An amendment that no further action be taken until it was proved that the match had been played under the amended rules found no seconder.
WELLINGTON CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. Poneke won tko championship for 1918 by defeating Potone on Saturday in the play-off. The score was : Poneke 19, Pot--0110 6. In the concluding stage of the game some hard knocks were given and received, and Hagan (Petone) and Pollock (Poneke! were seen shaping up to each other. Both players were ordered off the field by the referee.
