Lord Inchca.ps, the of the P. and 0. Conijiany, recently denied the amalgamation rumors, and tho stock dropped slightly. This was on 6. when P. and O. stock was quoted at £445. Four davs later the price dropped to £440. In Wellington on Friday, September 6, the stock was sold at £382, on tho 10th a sale was made at £425, but now tho stock is quoted at £4lO. If there is nothing in the rumors respecting amalgamation, it is •liiilcult to see how Jibe stock can maintain its present value.
