BENEFIT CONCERT
His Majesty's Theatre was comfortably filled last_ night, when a benefit concert was held in order to assist Mrs Cotton to pay the expenses in her recent unsuccessful action for compensation in connection with the death of her husband. Mr A. Walker, M.P.. presided, and stated that the concert had been organised by the Drivers' Union, who had interested themselves in Mrs Cotton's case, and it was hoped that, with tho assistance of the trade unions thr i'i."hmt New Zealand, a substantial sum would be raised. An enjoyable programme of varied items was presented, and received well-deserving applause from the audience. The following contributed items to tho programme:—Dance. Miss May Thome ; juargling, " Rawley and Reno " ; pianoforte overtures, Miss King ; songs— Master A. Wilson, Messrs P. Moody, Rex. Hart, and C. Finch (ragtime); pierrotto dance, Miss E. Wilson ; ragtime duo, Mr and Mrs Fleming ; musical monologue, Mr F. It. Turner; magician net. Mr P. Duncan, assisted bv Miss W. Harris; comedy duo, Mr and Mrs Crawford.
