In the Commons Mr Prothero (President of the Board of Agriculture), replying to a question, admitted the risk of a large proportion of the English harvest not being gathered, owing to the labor shortage. The Government, he added, had decided not to enforce the notices calling up agricultural laborers until after the harvest. The Board of Agriculture, said the Minister, were organising a supply of agricultural volunteers, including convalescent British and Dominion soldiers.
