I took an ordinary brick iii.>.i.d, measured the quantity of dust it held, and made a. composition of 3 dust to 1 cement, damped it sufficiently, pressed into the mould, and in 36 hours had a coal dust brick as a Lacking to the fire. A very fair brick can be made from 4 dust 1 cement. A home-made brick, usual siza, would probably cost one halfpenny.—l am, etc., " Koroihb. July 4.
