In the Magistrate’s Court at Oisborne yesterday James Wallace, George Shaw, Leslie James, Stafford Green, Henry Bendall, Alexander Legg, William Murray. John Dixey, Patrick Norton, John Hudson, and Arthur Preston were 'with taking part in a strike on February 28 at the Haiti Freezing Works. Mr Burnarrl. for the defendants, pleaded guilty. Mr Westbroke, inspector of factories, said at the time referred to negotiations were in operation by the company to increase wages. A meeting of the union was neid to consider the offer, but the accused decided to go on strike. The Magistrate said the maximum penalty for the offence was £IOO. In view of the circumstances he. would inflict a penalty of £3 each, iu default seven days' imprisonment.
