RED CROSS MILITARY HOME
AT MONTECILLO. PROBABLY OPEN IN A MONTH. Colonel M‘Gi.ll, chief medical _ sanitary officer, is to (reach Dunedin to-night, his business being to inspect tho building at Monteoillo which has been acquired by tho Red Cross, and is to be known as tho Red Cross Military Convalescent Home. Tho committee are to meet this officer to-morrow morning and make all arrangements for the necessary alterations, An endeavor will be made to open the home in about a month. There Is accommodation for 25 beds, or at a squeeze 29. Enlargements are contemplated. A matron is to have full chare# The appointment : s not yet made. There are several applications. Tho work of the establishment is to he done by voluntary aid workers giving their services free. A bed can be endowed with £IOO or more. Every endowed bed will carry the name of the ondower. Several persons have already signified their intention to endow a bed in memory of a fallen soldier, and it is hoped that many others will do the same.
