ANZAC DAY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir—l understand that it has been the custom in the past to commemorate the anniversary of Anzao Day by a dinner, given to all returned soldiers, but this year an entertainment. only is provided. X would like to know why this custom has been departed from. Surelv not- on account of the expense, as I sun informed that the men paid lor their tickets of admission. It is not asking too much that these men—among whom arc the very first who answered the Empire's call -should be given an opportunity of meeting together on more intimate terms than those "offered by a public entertainment. There is still time to show some slight appreciation of these men's efforts by giving them what ther desire. Trusting the Patriotic Association <W other responsible body will take the maitci" up- I am, etc., A St.\u>athiser. April 22.
