DUNEDIN CHORAL SOCIETY

The Dunedin Choral Society resume then weekly practices to-morrow. Performing members look forward to commencing rehearsing the three works to be given at the first concert. These are 'A Tale of Old Japan' (bv Coleridge-Taylor), ' Herve Kiel' (by IT. Walford Davie's), and 'The Banner of St. George' (by Sir Edward Elgar). The'society are to be commended for their enterprise in bringing such excellent modern choral works by British composers before the music-loving public. The performing members find enjoyment in their weekly practices, which are held in the comfortable Bristol concert hall. But, in addition, they learn much from such a conductor and musician as Mr Sidney Wolf, and count it an honor to belong to a society which has attained so high a standard of sterling musicianship. Tenors and basses will be welcomed. Twenty-two of the performing members have enlisted with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces. There is a duty to these men in keeping the male-voice section of the society well balanced.
