RETURNED SOLDIERS
PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT. [Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 11. A statement issued last night by the Attorney-General shows that 14,240 soldiers (sick or wounded) have returned tc the Dominion. A return made on Novem ber 29 showed 11,981, and there had since been a large increase, due to tho recent arrival of five transports with 2,266 men. Mr Hordman said very satisfactory worl ■was being done by the Discharged Soldiers Information Department in tho settlemenl of returned men, with splendid assistance by many employers of labor, who had helped in the carrying out of the schenn prepared "by the department for the re absorption ‘of the men. There were nc difficulties' immediately .ahead of tho' department that could not, he thought, bi surmounted. If all employers of laboi would notify the department when a nun was wanted they would not only b-s as sisting the Government, but would be dis charging very good service to their wun try. Of 219 men shown in the statement as needing employment, most of them lum just been discharged from the army. Uiiti men were actually discharged the depart ment could not take action in regard ti securing them employment.
