Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright Australian and. N.2. Gable Association. Mil HUGHES’S TASK. MELBOURNE, January 9. There wore brief sittings of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Mr Hughes, in the House of Representatives, announced the resignation of the Ministry, and moved the adjournment till to-morrow, in order to allow time for consideration of the situation. It is understood that Mr Hughes also informed members that the Governor-Gene-lal had commissioned him to form an Administration, nvhich the party are now discussing. It i« believed m certain quarters that the Labor party may be united and form a National Government. It is definitely announced that Mr Hughes has been commissioned to form a Government. The Alinisterial party aj>X>rove of his acceptance of the task. MELBOURNE, January 10. (Received January 10, at 10.35 a.m.) Mr Hughes has accepted the commission to form a Government. It is believed there will be no substantial changes in the Administration. The Min is try will ho formed in time to meet Parliament to-day. BIG COAL HEAL GEE. MELBOURNE. January 10. ihe 'Victorian State Cabinet rejected the proposed agreement with the New South Wales Government for the supply of coal (at 15s per ton, f.o.b. Newcastle).
