The Rev. A. M‘Neiir, of the Knapdale Presbyterian Church, has accepted a call from the Winton congregation. A Sydney cable states that Mr H. Taperell has resigned the news editorship of the ‘Daily Telegraph.’ Before joining the staff of the Sydney paper Mr Taperell was assitaut editor of the ‘New- Zealand Times.’ The estate of the late Mr W. H. Kendal, the well-known English actor-manager, who died early in November, has been proved at £66,261. He left portion of his property to theatrical charities, and gave his house in Yorkshire—"The Lodge,” Filey—to Miss Marie Lohr, the Australian actress. The widow of the late Mr Kendal is a sister of the late T. W. Robertson, the famous dramatist. His youngest daughter, Mias Dorothy Grimston, has played in Australia in recent yeare. Mr Nicholas C. Edwards, an electrical engineer, died in Auckland on Friday, foUowmg a fall down a flight of steps in the building in which his office is located. Mr Edwards, who was about 50 years of age, was heard to fall. Other occupants of the building, on coming to his assistance, found - him in a dying condition, and in a few minutes he expired. The ‘ Sydney Morning Herald ’ states that Mr A. K. Broadhead, late of New Zealand, has been appointed manager of Bulla (N.S.W.) colliery and coke works. Mr \V. H. Bagger, the new Conciliation Commissioner for Otago and Canterbury-, is a Londoner - . He arrived in the Dominion in 1883, and did clerical and contracting work until he joined tho Department of Labor’s headquarters staff at Wellington In 1897. Li 1901 he was appointed Inspector of Factories, and in 1904 was transferred to Christchurch, receiving the appointment of officer in charge there in 1906. In 1913 Mr Bagger was appointed Deputy Chief Inspector and Deputy Superintendent of Workers’ Dwellings, positions he hold till 1916, when he was appointed Conciliation Commissioner for Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Nelson, Marlborough, and Westland districts. Mr A. G. Butchers, M.A., with his wife and child, arrived in this City from Victoria on Tuesday evening. He is already enjoying Dunedin. He expresses himseff as pleased with the John M'Glashan College property, and has great hopes of the possibilities of tho school.
