RUSSIAN ANARCHY.

A NATION GRUMBLING. . LONDON, Januaay 8. The ‘Daily Chronicle’s’ Petromad correspondent writes; If Trotsky is mmhlo to induce the Germans to transfer the peace negotiations to Stockholm ho hopes to induce their assent to meet at Borne. Tire idea that Russia can fight must he abandoned. Russia, has ceased to exist as an organised State, and is in a condition of inconceivable anarchy, slipping back to the Middle Ages. No food is being loaded far Petrograd. and unless a miracle happens starvation is certain. Rioting is commencing in the factory towns in tho Moscow district, owing to the complete disappearance of bread. There is also a danger of the steppage of trains, as the coal supply is failing. Many factories have been closed, and tho army of nnemployed is growing daily. Tho official class continue to strike at people who are hoarding roubles, with a view to possible emergencies. All financial operations aro completely blocked ; tho masses aro -sullen • and the Anarchist propaganda is making headway at the Bolsheviks’ expense. The Anarchists propose that on the Russian “New Year's Day they shall confiscate all property, including factories and houses. Travelling is a peril. The trains aro packed with wandering soldiers, and the rolling stock is gradually breaking down under tho strain. Trains reach Petrograd with the windows smashed and linings torn from the seats.
