AMUSEMENTS

LYRIC PICTURES,'PORT CHALMERS. To-morrow evening Town Hall patrons will bo entertained by a combined Paramount and William’Fox programme. The Paramount photo-play is ‘Public Opinion,’ and it has distinct features of artistic merit, -which won for it a prompt popularity when screened in the North. The plot is cleverly conceived and effectively developed, without resort-to garish effect. It is one of the really interesting stories which do not require external aids to make it pleasing. The actors succeed in portraying very effectively the forcciulness of public opinion. The ‘‘star” picture is followed by a Fox film comedy called ‘ Sixcylinder Love,’ and, as the name implies, there is raudi laughter in it. The programme is a. good one, and well worthseeing.
