On Saturday la?t the opening of the season, of the" Y.W.C.A. Swimming Club took placo :it the Y.M.C.A. baths. Thero wai a good attendance of mem.heTs and friends. _ The general secretary (Miss Andrews) in a few appropriate "words, declared tho season open, after which various items of- interest, including some fancy swimming and diving, were given. Afternoon tea wa3 dispensed by members of the club. In the evening a Halloween Partv was given at the Y.W.C.A. A frieze of witehes, cats, owls, and bats decorated the -walls of the haJl. a witch's den occupied one corner, and the only lighting was that shed from Jack-o'-lanterns, which. produced a mysterious and weird effect. Old Halloween games were indulged in, and a very"merry evening was.spent. '
