NORTH-EAST VALLEY WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION.
The following work was sent in from this branch:—For Early Settlers' Hall: Thirteen pairs socks, 9 "balaclavas, 1 suit pyjamas, 15 shirts, 12 handkerchiefs, 72 service bags. For Red Cross Rooms: Twelve pairs ward slippers, 1 packet old ,'inen, 8 surgical dressings, 10 dozen swabs, 6 face cloths, 6 diet cloths, 10 bandages, 19 handkerchiefs. From pupils George Street School. September work from North-east Valley, per Miss Andrew: Six pairs socles, 2 fiee cloths; 11 girdles, 53 handkerchiefs, 17 towels, 38 housewives. Donations received:—For Dominion parcels: Miss Wilkie, Miss Andrew, Mrs Mdllier, Miss Bowling, Mrs Barmby, Mrs H. Thompson. For funds: Miss Andrew, Mrs Doro, Miss Inglis. The committee desire to thank the Misses Coombs, Wragge, Nimmo, and Latham for their generosity in giving a special evening at the hall sewing shirts, which are so urgently needed.
F. George Zaffer was amcng those called to the colors last week. He volunteered two years ago, and again 18 months ago, but was rejected on each occasion.
